Minneapolis-Based Artist, Jeremy Messersmith
Minneapolis artist, Jeremy Messersmith, played an hour-long show on the St. Paul Terrace of the University of Minnesota campus today. Lunch-goers, music enthusiasts, and passersby enjoyed a free performance as part of the 'Noontime' summer concert series.
According to Messersmith during today's performance of 'Snow Day', a song from his 2006 album The Alcatraz Kid, he grew up in the desert. Originally a man from southern Washington State, he later moved in Minneapolis in 1999.In 2004, Messersmith began playing solo shows in Minneapolis, eventually gaining the attention of Princess Records, a Minneapolis-based company. By 2006, The Alcatraz Kid hit store shelves and songs like 'Novocain' and 'Beautiful Children' caught the attention of local radio stations.
Since the production of his 2006 album, Messersmith has partnered with producer Dan Wilson (Semisonic, Trip Shakespeare) to release the 2008 album, The Silver City. Sample some of his latest hits now on his MySpace page, or purchase his CDs online.
